Only date on copy right page is1960; Possible First since states "First Edition designed by Alma Reese Cardi" and no other publication dates indicated. Oversize book- approximately 9.25" by 12" and is over sized. Profusely illustrated by the re-known Marguerite de Angeli in both B&W line drawings and full page color illustrations. see photos. Pages are clean and bright; binding is firm. There are no tears, creases or missing signatures. There are small pencil check marks on the content page as if someone was checking off the different chapters. No other writing or highlighting noted. This is an ex-lib however there are only two stamps on one on FEP and back EP, which say from the "Washington Township School Valparaiso, Indiana" Since no DJ, Cloth covered boards are mildly soiled, sunned and rubbed. Embossed title on spine and image on cover is still colorful and very readable. This is NOT a remainder nor a recent reprint.
