Munajat Maqbul (Accepted Whispers) ByHakim al-Ummah Ashraf Ali Thanawi Hizb al-Bahr (Litany of the Sea) By Imam Abu 'l Hasan ash-Shadili Zad as-Sa'id (Forty Salat & Salam) By Hakim al-Ummah Ashraf Ali Thanawi Arabic-English With Translation & Transliteration Paperback 149 Pages Pocket Size ISBN: 9781915265456 Turath Publishing About The Book Dua is a light, free-flowing prayer that can be offered anywhere, at any time, and under any circumstances. The Messenger's supplications (S) were always directed to AllahTa'ala even for the most minute things. When teaching his Companions (ra) the duas, he made certain they memorized them word for word and would alert them to the importance of preserving their original wording exactly as he conveyed it to them. The most virtuous and perfect duas are indeed the words used by the Qur'an and those found in hadiths. The Messenger's duas are another gift of mercy and compassion to us. There are an abundance of books on duas, and every generation of scholars and righteous friends of Allah Ta'ala have compiled them, but this version is prepared by Mawlana Ashraf Ali Thanawi with emphasis on the authenticity of the sources. We (The Publisher) have also added the famous Hizb al-Bahr supplication of Shaykh Abul-Hasan ash-Shadhili and Zad as-Said (the forty formulae of prayers on the Prophet S.), also compiled by Mawlana Thanawi. It is our hope and prayer that this collection connects us directly to the Divine and that it becomes a source of nearness to Him.…

Student's Bahishti Zewar (For Males) By Hakimul Ummah Maulana Ashraf 'Ali Thanawi English Translation By Maulana Muhammad Mahomedy Hardback 576 Pages Publisher : Maktaba Bait Ul Ilm About The Book The popular and well-known book 'Bahishti Zewar' of Hakim al-Ummat Mawlana Ashraf 'Ali Thanawi, needs no introduction. It contains all the necessary rules and regulations (according to the Hanafi math-hab) needed for a Muslim from birth till death. It gained such popularity and acceptance that approximately, 100,000 copies were printed in the authors lifetime (early 1900's)! The book was originally written for women. However, it has proved extremely beneficial for men as well. Bearing this in mind, the compilers of this particular edition undertook the task of removing those rules and regulations which were applicable [solely] to women, while maintaining those applicable to men. Other peculiarities of the book include: The language of the book has been simplified for easy understanding The female tense used in the original work has been replaced with the male tense The chapters have been re-arranged according to the Juridical chapters found in books of fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence) A brief exercise is added at the end of almost every chapter so that teachers may guage the students' understanding of the text. Those who undertake self-study may also benefit from the exercises.…

Soft cover. Condizione: Fine. xv, 436 pages ; 22 cm. Challenging conventional notions about the place of women in Muslim societies, the Bihishti Zewar (Heavenly Ornaments) gives life to the themes of religious and social reform that have too often been treated in the abstract. This instructional guidebook, used by the world`s largest population of Muslims, is a vital source for those interested in modern Indian social and intellectual history, in Islamic reform, and in conceptions of gender and women`s roles. The Bihishti Zewar was written in northern India in the early 1900s by a revered Muslim scholar and spiritual guide, Maulana Ashraf `Ali Thanawi (1864-1943), to instruct Muslim girls and women in religious teachings, proper behavior, and prudent conduct of their everyday lives. In so doing, it sets out the core of a reformist version of Islam that has become increasingly prominent across Muslim societies during the past hundred years. Throughout the work, nothing is more striking than the extent to which the book takes women and men as essentially the same, in contrast to European works directed toward women at this time. Its rich descriptions of the everyday life of the relatively privileged classes in turn-of-the-century north India provide information on issues of personality formation as well as on family life, social relations, household management, and encounters with new institutions and inventions. Barbara Metcalf has carefully selected those sections of the Bihishti Zewar that best illustrate the themes of reformist thought about God, the person, society, and gender. She provides a substantial introduction to the text and to each section, as well as detailed annotations.…

Miscellaneous It is a fact that in Indian subcontinent (like other areas of the world today) most of the Tasawwuf had become a potpourri of ritualistic traditions and cultural customs of singing, dancing, recitation of litanies & specific ways of remembrance (zikr), celebration of annual anniversaries and a business of charms/amulets (ruqya/taweez), etc. The reality of Tasawwuf, that is to rectify one's inner morals characteristics so that eventually the outer forms of worships are also performed correctly, and a very strong relationship with Allah is developed had been eclipsed. 'Tarbiyat us Salik' is the compilation from letters of disciples along with the reply of Mawlana Ashraf Ali Thanawi. They were selected by Hazrat ra himself and arranged in the specific manner described below. The first two parts were published while Hazrat ra was alive. The third part was published by Mawlana Khair Mohammad Jahlinderi ra (his senior khalifa, founder of Khairul Madaris, Multan) after Hazrat ra's demise.…
