No Binding. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Not a book but a 7-inch, 45 rpm vinyl "single" record, Jan-Ell 459, vinyl very-good-plus. As "Take 17" is written, arranged and directed by one Ernest Smith, it seems unlikely these are the same clean-cut Boulder, Colorado, "Astronauts" who recorded for RCA 1963-1967, providing the title track for "Ride the Wild Surf." But who knows? The Five Superiors, on the other hand, were a black doo-wop group out of Oakland, California, comprising Charles Perry, Cornelius Weekly, Robert Lee Herring, Ralph Hollis (bass), and in all likelihood Dickie Wanzo here replacing soprano A.C. Herring, who had joined the Navy. (The Five Superiors' OTHER known single, "Big Shot / There's a Fool Born Every Day," on the Garpax label, can fetch $200, these days.) This single now reduced from $14.

Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Poor. First Edition. Book is like new in black cloth with white lettering and photographic color endpapers of a rocket launch. Illustrated profusely throughout with black and white photos. The jacket is damaged on the back cover with a long closed and repaired tear, creasing, and small heat bubbles. There are a couple of chips to spine ends not affecting lettering and spine and front cover look pretty good. The jacket has done a great job of protecting the book all these years.

Hardcover. Condizione: Very good. Condizione sovraccoperta: very good. First Edition. Octavo, 352pp., illustrated. A crisp, clean copy, very good, with modest bumps to the top corners and a few tiny abrasions to the bottom edge. Contents clean and sound. Gift inscription, dated 1963, on the front paste-down, mostly concealed by the jacket flap. In a very good price-clipped dust jacket, with some short tears to the extremities, and the publisher's lamination mis-applied along the front spine joint; true of many copies. With all faults, still a rather nice copy of this very popular account of the Mercury Seven.
