Vol.#34 in the original Tom Swift series, which was comprised of 40 volumes featuring the young inventor written by writers in the Stratemeyer Syndicate's stable of authors under the pseudonym Victor Appleton II (this one actually by Howard Garis). 218 pp. Originally published by Grosset & Dunlap in 1931, this is one of the slightly later Whitman reprints (#2162), with 9 titles on front flap & back cover of DJ & slightly different DJ cover art (by "The Kerrs'). Hardcover has tan cloth-covered boards stamped with darker brown lettering to front & spine. Condition is VG+: quite clean & bright, binding straight & strong, front hinge cracked. Pages heavily tanned, but unmarked. Remnants of old price sticker to ffep. Mild rubbing to extremities & very slight bumping to corners. The unclipped DJ is VG- (minus): very bright & colorful, with some significant chipping & heavy rubbing to both ends of spine, corners, & flap edges; nicely protected in new mylar cover Free!
