Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good. 1st Edition. First edition, first impression. Undated but 1938 from other bibliographic sources. Olive green illustrated cloth, no jacket as issued. Some edge wear to top and bottom of covers and spine, slight backwards lean probably caused by slight damp distortion, corners bruised, no publishe…d price, no inscriptions, internally clean and tight, overall a vg copy for its age. 144pp, illustrated. William Carleton Irvine (1871-1946), was a missionary, writer and the founding editor of the Indian Christian magazine. This is his account of working for 25 years among the lepers of India. This book was widely read and Irvine and his long suffering wife were held up as model missionaries. Quite a scarce book.

Aggiungi al carrelloSoft cover. Condizione: Good. 1st Edition. Printed card covers( Sewn Paperback) 190 x 130 mm approx. 164 pp. The book is essentially a rewrite with numerous important additions born out of experience of "A Path to Freedom in the School." Mac Munn operated an experimental school where he formulated and tested methods of training…boys under a system of complete individual freedom, based largely upon the realisation of the truths that children, like men of genius, do their work in the spirit of play. The author in his preface thanks the early pioneers, Mr Edward Holmes and Professor Culverwell and gives special thanks to Lord and Lady Glenconner who helped him to put his ideas into practice at Tiptree Hall Essex.Printed at The Mayflower Press Plymouth. Please see our images of the actual book offered for sale for further details and condition. Good ( Heavy rubbing and shelf soiling to card covers. A section to the tail of spine which had become detached has been re glued with p.v.a. Previous owner name and place in ink to free front end paper. Views expressed in the same hand to the half title page. The book block is made up from a heavy weight cheap paper stock with rough uncut fore and bottom edges which does not make for easy page turning. Glue failing at some signatures but sewing holding). A scarce survivor of this interesting educational experiment.
