Text compiled by German poet, writer and journalist, Friedrich Schnack?(1888 - 1977) pseudonym:?Charles Ferdinand. A pocket-sized collection of short writings, poems and verses, all celebrating wine. Although not technically a ?miniature? book (its length is greater than 3?), it is a lovely copy of one of Hyperion-Verlag?s small-scale collectable gift books for which the publisher is so well-known. Binding designed by Werner B?rger. In very good condition with light bumping to edges of covers and light overall scuffing. Gold lettering is rubbed and dulled. Binding tight. Previous owner?s gift inscription in German on front free end paper dated 1968. Endpapers lightly aged but otherwise unmarked. NOT Ex-Library. NO remainder marks. Illustrator Herber Thiele (1905-1973) studied at the Academy for Graphic Arts in Leipzig. He worked as an illustrator from 1934 to 1939 for the popular publication "Fliegende Bl?tter". His known works include around 70 drawings as well as numerous book illustrations.
