'The aim (of this book - ND) is to identify dramaturgical features which are common to many or all of the plays. (?) The fourth and final part of the book, about dramatic…structure, is the most original, but in the end I find it unconvincing. T. identifies three types of structure in the plays. First there is the structure of initiation, an arduous journey leading to a new life. (?) His second type is erotic structure. (?) Finally there is ?la structure tournante', which means that a character or chorus undergoes a change. (?) As in many parts of the book, he has raised an interesting question, made some sound points, and yet failed to bring the discussion to a satisfying conclusion.' (DOUGLAS M.
