Frame's brown backing paper has ink inscription "Property of E. Lee Dorsett" (Edward Lee Dorsett, 1883-1967, was a prominent physician in St. Louis, Missouri as well as a naval historian and author). Backing paper also offers a partial transcription of the document's text but written by a different hand than Dr. Dorsett's. Partial transcription of document's text as follows: "Shipped by the Grace of God, in good order and well conditioned, by Henry McCall by order of Dr. John Martin for his sole acct. + risk in and upon the good Ship called the Hope whereof is Master, Under God, for this present Voyage, Thos. Dixey, Jr. and now riding at Anchor in the Bay of Gibraltar and by God's Grace bound for Philadelphia to say, One thousand Spanish Milled Silver Dollars contained in a box . . .
