Martha Washington is seen sewing at a table while her daughter-in-law also sits and is seen reading a letter. The Washington's granddaughter, Eleanor, is seen resting her head on Martha's lap. Seen at left, in the yard, George W.P. Custis is seen with an African American woman, lighting a toy cannon, while two dogs watch.
