Published by Charles Scribner's Sons, New York, 1891. Small octavo. Bound in the publisher's original navy blue cloth, with gilt facsimile signature "Marie-Louise" stamped on the front board and gilt spine titling. Top edge tinted by the publisher. Frontispiece portrait with original tissue guard present and intact. Exterior shows moderate surface marking and staining to the front board, with minor wear and beginning fraying at the crown and tail of the spine; corners lightly bumped. Binding sound and square. Previous owner's bookplate to the front endpaper. Interior very good: pages clean, bright, and unmarked throughout. Title page dated 1891; copyright © 1891. Pagination: 301 pages of text, followed by 10 pages of publisher's advertisements.
