Sir William Beach Thomas has written a book that will be enjoyed as much by the regular hunting fraternity as by armchair enthusiasts who love to browse over the page of Peter Beckford and Surtees. That it is a work of literature goes without saying, at the same time it embraces the subject perhaps more comprehensively than has yet been attempted, and provides an epitome of the sport in every English region.
