Unbound. Condizione: Near fine condition. First Edition. Signed card, measuring 11.5 cm (w) x 6.8 cm (h) or 4-1/2" x 2-11/16". Inscribed "Yours Respectfully J. W. Throckmorton Texas." Undated, but circa 1885. Known as "Old Leathercoat." Served in the U.S. Army during the Mexican War; member of Texas state legislature, 1851; delegate to Texas secession convention 1861; General in the Confederate Army during the Civil War; delegate to Texas state constitutional convention 1866; Governor of Texas 1866-67; U.S. Representative from Texas 1875-79, 1883-87 (3rd District 1875-79, 5th District 1883-87). Democrat. In July 1867, Throckmorton was removed from office by General Philip Sheridan as "an impediment to reconstruction." Autograph, Political Science, American History. Attractive for framing. Signed by Author(s). Autograph.
