Dorbon 286 : « Ouvrage très curieux et d'autant plus rare que l'auteur qui s'intitule modestement « Le Fléau des Sorciers » en détruisit lui-même, pris d'un remord tardif, tous les exemplaires qu'il put trouver. Berbiguier, que les traitements de divers médecins d'Avignon avaient rendu complètement fou, fut adressé par sa famille au célèbre docteur Pinel, et qui, n'ayant pu le guérir, encourut la haine du pauvre illuminé. Celui-ci se vengea en écrivant son livre dont la coûteuse publication le ruina. Berbiguier croit que les esprits qui le tourmentent sous les ordres du docteur Pinel « leur général en chef » et « représentant de Satan » sont de l'espèce des farfadets et il énumère tous les moyens qu'il a découverts pour les combattre [.] Tout ce fatras est entremêlé de recherches scientifiques assez curieuses.
