He started boxing at 11, the same age at which he star…ted working on a greengrocer's stall. As an amateur boxer, he had 122 fights and was an ABA finalist. At 23, he became a professional boxer and quickly rose through the ranks, winning the Southern Area title and the WBC International title. He also fought for a European title and was just one fight away from a world title shot. In 1993, he received the Best Fight of the Year award for his epic battle with Wally Swift Jr., which was shown on Sky TV. Out of 28 professional fights, he won 25. Here he speaks very openly about the hardships of childhood, his career and his very painful and messy divorce.
