A TWICE-PUBLISHED SIGNED AUTOGRAPH LETTER, to philosopher (and close friend) Louis Bouchitté (1795-1861) BY ALEXIS DE TOCQUEVILLE, written in his family seat of Tocqueville (in Normandy) two years before his death. Tocqueville expresses concern about the health of Bouchitté's niece, and hopes that Bouchitté will be able to stay with him in Tocqueville during October. He goes on to discuss a trip to England, from which he has just returned. He concludes with some brief comments on Bouchitté's theological philosophy. 3 pp (a single folded sheet). About 400 words written in cursive script in brown ink on fine wove writing paper. Sheet repaired at fold and a little frayed at edges, but the text is unaffected and complete.
