Dust jacket well rubbed; small chips, short tears, scuffing, and creasing at edges. Blue cloth. Author's four-line ink inscription "To | Elting Arnold, a great | conservationist, with best wishes | Bob Cahn" on front free endpaper. Interior leaves are otherwise clean. Binding retains some crispness. The book's inscribee is presumably attorney Elting Arnold (1912-1988), first general counsel to the Inter-American Development Bank and an United States Treasury Department assistant general counsel. Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Robert Cahn relays an oral history of the early years of the National Park Service told by attorney Horace M. Albright who served as superintendent of Yellowstone National Park (1919-1929) and briefly at Yosemite National Park as well, special field assistant to first Director Stephen Mather, Acting Director during Mather's illness, and second NPS director himself from 1929-1933.
