The 'support for teachers' and the 'improvement of instruction' are only loosely coupled and their interdependence is not highlighted. These challenges were the impetus to initiate this publication. Individual approaches, models or designs of pre-service and in-service teacher education developed by the authors (action research, video clubs, lesson studies, and others) are introduced and their impact and shortcomings for further development are specified. In the concluding chapter, a reflective discussion across individual approaches to reveal particular issues that are shaping the field is provided. Practitioners as well as researchers in the field of teacher education can benefit from this book.

Die empirischen Studien beschäftigen sich im Besonderen mit den Bereichen Curriculum, Unterricht und Lehrerinnen- und Lehrerbildung. Thematisiert wird neben der Entwicklung, Implementierung, Überprüfung und Revision von Curricula, was (guten) Unterricht und eine produktive Lehr- und Lernkultur ausmacht. Des Weiteren werden videobasierte Unterrichtsanalysen und eine Methodik für videobasierte Hospitationen vorgestellt. Schließlich werden die Diskurse über Curriculum und Unterricht miteinander verknüpft, mit dem Ziel, neue Konzepte und Instrumente für eine qualitätsvolle Lehrerbildung zu entwickeln.Mit diesem Band wird zugleich eine Bilanz aus mehr als zehn Jahren der Forschungs- und Entwicklungsarbeiten des Forschungsinstitutes für Schulbildung der Pädagogischen Fakultät der Masaryk Universität in Brno gezogen. Die hier gesammelten Beiträge hat der Autor im deutschsprachigen Raum in den vergangenen Jahren bei verschiedenen Gelegenheiten unter anderem bei Gastvorträgen oder bei Vorträgen im Rahmen der AEPF, GEBF, ÖFEB u.a. präsentiert.
