Yellow cloth soiled with some light staining; light bumping to boards' top fore-ege corners; slight wear to rear bvoar's bottom fore-edge corner with minor losses to bottom corners of a group of rear leaves. Mild bumping at top corners of interior leaves; a few scattered spots of light soiling but interior pages overall remain quite clean. Binding is firm. A very good- copy. An uncommon biography of strong-willed Greenwood, Mississippi professional studio photographer Lillian Spurrier with the autobiographical musings of her like-mannered daughter, Mildred Spurrier Topp (1897-1963), who taught creative writing at Ole Miss, authored one book of fiction titled IN THE PINK (Houghton Mifflin, 1950), was a close friend of Eudora Welty, and served one term in the Mississippi State Legislature from 1932 to 1935. Dust jacket rubbed and soiled, mild color fading to spine panel, nicks and several tears at edges, moisture staining across all lower panels and flaps with color loss to the original pink at lower front panel, original $2.50 price printed at front flap's top corner; dj now presented in a mylar Brodart protector. Green cloth, light color fading to spine, staining at bottoms of front and rear boards. Light toning to edges; both pastedowns have usual slight offsetting relative to their respective board margins; interior leaves have some faint shallow staining at their bottom margins but are otherwise clean. Author's nine-line ink inscription on half-title page: "To my Friends | Maude and George Chambless | with | Love | and | Best Wishes | for | Happy Reading! | Mildred Spurrier Topp." Binding is firm.
