Studenten der Ingenieurwissenschaften sollen befähigt werden, am Ende aktiv in die C/C++-Programmierung einzusteigen, Dozenten können das Buch als Anregung für die Entwicklung eigener Lehrveranstaltungen nutzen, und natürlich profitieren auch Praktiker, die die eigene Arbeit überprüfen oder verbessern wollen. Auf eine allgemeine Einführung, die sehr schön die Evolution von Wissenschaft und Technik skizziert, folgt ein Überblick über das Thema Algorithmen. Dann geht es an die Darstellung der Programmierung. Weitere Aufgaben finden sich übrigens auf einer eigenen Website (VorsichtBeim Link, der im Vorwort angegeben ist, immer Slash statt Backslash eingegeben). Die Website hält auch die personalisierten E-Mail-Adressen der Autoren parat. Fragen kann man auf diese Weise als externe Evaluation von Professoren ausgeben und muss sein Unwissen nicht dem eigenen Professor offenbaren, wenn man denn eine Antwort bekommt. Computeranwendungenkurz, bündig und motivierend für Ingenieure Für den erfolgreichen Umgang mit Software, die mittlerweile Unterstützung auf allen nur denkbaren Gebieten gibt, braucht man das Verständnis für das Zusammenspiel zwischen Mensch und Computer. Dies lässt sich am besten aus eigener Erfahrung gewinnen. Das Buch vermittelt den Lesern, vor allem Studierenden der Ingenieurwissenschaften an Universitäten und Fachhochschulen, das notwendige Rüstzeug, eigene Rechnerlösungen zu schaffen. Ausgehend von der Bedeutung der Algorithmen werden unter Nutzung der Programmiersprache C/C++ Lösungswege beschrieben. Es wird dabei Wert darauf gelegt, dass der komplette Lösungsprozess von der Problemanalyse bis zur Ergebnistestung betrachtet wird. Mit der Wahl einer aktuellen, prozeduralen Programmiersprache und durch die vielen Anwendungsbeispiele werden auch jene Leser angesprochen, die ihre Kenntnisse auffrischen bzw. erweitern wollen.
