Edges toned; light foxing throughout but most prevalent upon initial and rear leaves; toning to pages 26-27 from laid-in newspaper clipping. Binding is firm. B/w illustrations throu…ghout. A good+ copy. Presumably issued as one volume of a larger correspondence school instructional set. Text sections include: "Magazine Illustration" by J.J. Gould [Joseph J. Gould]; "Comment on Illustrating" by Wm. Allen White [William Allen White] and F.R. Gruger [Frederic Rodrigo Gruger]; "Examples of Illustration" by Edwin A. Abbey, Walter Appleton Clark, F.R. Gruger, Harry Townsend, and others; "How to Compose an Illustration" by Frederic D. Calhoun; "Figure Studies for Illustration" by Frederic D. Calhoun; "Story Illustration in Pencil and Crayon" by D.J. Lavin; "Cartoon Idea and Development" by Ray Evans, etc. Also laid-in are "Chart Folio for Division Eight" and "Chart Folio for Division One" and "Chart Folio for Division Twelve" by Charles Dana Gibson. The three charts folios are soiled and toned with some edge-wear; latter two obviously intended for other volumes in the series but interesting nonetheless.
