These invaluable resources are EACH boldly inscribed and signed by the legendary historian author on their respective first blank flyleaves. He also, signed BOTH on their respective Half Title pages, and finally he initialed EACH on their respective title pages. Vol. 1 has a prior owner's bookplate just inside the front board, and a different prior owners smaller plate just below that. Vol. 1 dust jacket has a small 1/4" piece missing from the front right bottom corner. Otherwise both jackets are quite nice, and present superbly in clear archival covers.
