Often considered to be the definitive encyclopaedia of classical mythology, and an influential bridge between the ancient world and western art and literature. It was a primary source for Dante, Chaucer, and Milton. Shakespeare also drew inspiration from the work - most notably in A Midsummer Night's Dream and Romeo and Juliet.

Measures 9.25 x 12 inches. Very good condition. Clear mylar cover protects the binding. The book is in the original silver slipcase, but the slipcase is cracked at the bottom. This title originally sold for $87.50. There are no longer any copies available from the Arion Press archives. The prospectus is 8 pages, folded but not stapled, with a small insert showing the kind of paper to be used.
