This is a collection of writings by Wanda Landowska (1879-1959), a Polish harpsichordist and pianist. She became well-known as a harpsichordist and helped revive interest in the instrument. This work was collected, edited, and translated by Denise Restout (1915-2004), a French harpsichordist and pianist and Landowska's assistant and protege. Restout was assisted by Robert Hawkins, an English professor, for this work. The following is an extract from the text printed on one side of the slipcase: "Here for the first time in any language are large sections from Wanda Landowska's previously unpublished notebooks. Here also are Landowska's writings in French during half a century, much of it translated for the first time, as well as the complete text of her book Musique Ancienne, first published in France in 1909, later in English, and now completely retranslated and revised in accordance with Landowska's wishes.".
