Original dark blue cloth rubbed; bumping and wear at board corners; mild staining to spine cloth with light scuffing and bumping at ends; some scuffing along rear joint; spine's gilt stamping re…asonably bright but not vibrant. Front pastedown features armorial bookplate of "Sir William Purdie Treloar, Bart. | Lord Mayor, 1906-7" (Treloar, 1843-1923 served as Lord Mayor of London from November 1906 to November 1907) with designer and date "A.J. Downey Fecit 1907" [presumably British artist Alfred James Downey] printed at bookplate's bottom margin; Downey design comprised of knight's helmet atop crest shield with latter crisscrossed by sword and scepter. Front and rear hinges shaken with front free endpaper and front flyleaf now detached and laid-in. Text block otherwise remains firmly bound. Insurance company ink stamp on front flyleaf recto, title page, and rear free endpaper recto; first several leaves have shallow chips at their fore-edge margins. Only a fair copy which needs repairs to the aforementioned hinge faults. Please note that this thick book has an approximate shipping weight of 3 pounds (1.36 kg) and may require additional postage for any postal class other than domestic Media Mail.
