91x38 cm. Map, previously folded, backed with linen. Damaged, with loss (1x25 cm.) from crude tape repair along a fold, and 1x8 cm. in from left edge. Also other smaller areas of loss including a large chip out of the left margin. Moderate foxing and staining. Overall fair to good condition only. A scarce map originally included… in a Congressional report. Shows the corridor from Washington D. C. to Lake Ontario and the Niagara River. Shows parts of Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New York State, including the Finger Lakes in New York. The road being considered was prompted by the completion of the Erie Canal. This road would have provided a direct link from the Great Lakes to Washington. Library of Congress 78696024, OCLC 5487229 (5 loc.).
