This is a November 1984 Second Edition that is identical to the First except a new Preface inserted on page five. Dust jacket has minor wear to edges. Entire book is in the German Language and might be labeled a City Year Book. . Brown cloth with gold spine lettering and embossed gold decoration on front. More than a history book of the town of Buchen, this book was published on its 700th anniversary. Buchen is located in Odenwald district, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany and was first called a City in 1280. The book itself is composed of a number of local history articles with anecdotes, legends and vernacular poetry. Illustrated on most pages with drawings, photographs, and maps with some in color. There is a large 16th century foldout color drawing of the hunting boundaries. Mention is made of theologian Boniface Wolf, composer Joseph Martin Kraus, and painter Wilhelm Ernele - all residents of Buchen. This is an excellent reference book of gift quality and would be a good addition to any institutional library. Contents in Four Parts: Contribution to the History of the City, Personalities, Heimatkundliches (museums), and Buchener (Families-Clubs). Laid in is a list of donors (Spendenverzeichnis) for what was called The 1980 City Jubilee Book. This would also be useful for genealogists researching families from this part of Germany.
