Country surveys chart the evolution of artistic traditions and the melding of European and native art forms not only in architecture and the fine arts, but also in interior design, metalwork, textiles and other decorative arts, and include discussions of art patronage and training in each nation. Biographies range from the 17th~century architect and sculptor Juan Tomas Tuyru Tupac Inca, a descendent of the Inca nobility, to the youngest artist profiled, Jac Lierner. Like the award winning 34~volume Dictionary of Art, from which the expanded and thoroughly updated entries in this encyclopedia have been drawn, coverage also includes discussions of influential national and international art movements and such issues as the role of the Jesuits in the establishment of Christian artistic traditions, Latin American art in the USA, and women artists in Latin America. There are also some 25 new biographies of contemporary Latin American artists. The 1296 entries are complemented by 396 black~and~white and 84 colour illustrations. Jane Turner is the Editor and Publisher of the Dictionary of Art. This encyclopedia was prepared by Diane Fortenberry, Deputy Editor of the Dictionary of Art.

Clough's poems, described by Robert Lowell as "the truest expression in verse of the moral and intellectual tendencies, the doubt and struggle towards settled convictions, of the period in which he lived", have taken time to achieve the attention they deserve. Until the publication of the first edition of 'The Poems of Arthur Hugh Clough' in 1951, the most substantial collection of his work had been prepared by the poet's wife, with the assistance of John Addington Symonds, and published in 1869, eight years after Clough's death at the age of forty-two. This second edition reassesses every aspect of the 1951 volume, its selections, texts, and ordering, and incorporates significant new material, including all of Clough's juvenilia and an expanded selection of his translations. More than thirty previously uncollected poems have been added. Further details and images for any of the items listed are available on request.
