Some dust-toning to bottom of page block. Page interiors crisp and resh. Nice copy of this catalogue by the German artist Ulay, with text by American art critic Thomas McEvilley. Texte in deutscher und englischer Sprache. Dokumentation einer Performance des Künstlers, bei der er Spitzwegs "Armen Poeten" entwendete. 197…6 stahl er in der Kunstaktion "Da ist eine kriminelle Berührung in der Kunst" das Gemälde "Der arme Poet" von Carl Spitzweg aus der Neuen Nationalgalerie, um es im Anschluss in der Wohnung einer türkischen Gastarbeiterfamilie in Kreuzberg aufzuhängen. Nach 30 Stunden gab er es im Künstlerhaus Bethanien zurück und stellte sich der Polizei. Die Aktion, die die Lebensumstände der Gastarbeiter mit den Konventionen des etablierten Kunstbetriebs konfrontierte, wurde von Wilma Kottusch und Mike Steiner auf Video dokumentiert. Ulay wurde wegen Diebstahls zu einer Geldstrafe verurteilt. Er bezahlte die Strafe nicht, sondern verließ Deutschland. Nach seiner Rückkehr zwei Jahre später wurde er zwecks Verbüßung der Ersatzfreiheitsstrafe festgenommen, kam aber wieder frei, nachdem Freunde die Geldstrafe bezahlt hatten [Wikipedia].
