Das mag an der Tradition der letzten 200 Jahre mit der (seit Rousseau und Pestalozzi) relativen Hochbewertung der Mutterrolle in der Pädagogik, aber auch an den realen Gegebenheiten liegen: der Tatsache, daß Mütter die hauptsächliche Erziehungsarbeit leisten.Frau Leeb ging beim Entwurf ihrer Diplomarbeit davon aus, daß gerade für zukünftige Pädagoginnen/Erziehungswissenschafterinnen die bewußte Auseinandersetzung mit dem eigenen Vaterbild im Hinblick auf ihre Rolle als mögliche Multiplikatorinnnen sehr wichtig sei. Sie entschloß sich zu einer Arbeit, die sie in zwei Teile gliederte: einen sehr ausführlichen Theorieteil und einen empirischen Teil, der eine eigenständige qualitative Studie beinhaltet.Im Theorieteil, in welchem sie die vorliegende Literatur zum Thema Vaterrolle und Vater-Tochter-Beziehung auch von den 'Nachbardisziplinen' der Pädagogik (Psychologie, Soziologie) her analysierte, skizziert sie zunächst den Wandel in der Definition des 'Vaters' und zeigt, mit welchen Theorien die Vaterrolle jeweils verbunden ist, wie sich die Forschung dazu entwickelte und wie die Rolle des Vaters heute in den einzelnen Lebensabschnitten der Tochter gesehen wird.Dabei wird deutlich, daß der Wandel der Definitionen des Begriffs 'Vater' Ausdruck eines gesellschaftlichen Wandels ist, der sich vor allem in der teilweisen Auflösung der strikten Rollenzuschreibungen von Mann und Frau ausdrückt. (S. 13)Im folgenden Abschnitt der Arbeit (Kap. 2) stellt die Autorin Ergebnisse der sog. Vaterforschung vor, orientiert sich am 4-Phasen-Modell von Fthenakis, um dann auf einige Positionen einzugehen, die sich speziell mit der Rolle des Vaters in der Entwicklung seiner Tochter befassen. Dabei kann Frau Leeb zeigen, daß viele Autoren die Meinung vertreten, daß die Tochter zwar in den verschiedenen Lebensabschnitten ein unterschiedliches Maß an Zuwendung braucht, sie aber grundsätzlich in ihrer Entwicklung auf die Aufmerksamkeit und Zuwendung des Vaters angewiesen ist. Im Kap. 3 setzt sich die Autorin mit dem weiblichen Rollenverständnis auseinander. Hier wird deutlich, welchen entscheidenden Einfluß nach übereinstimmender Meinung verschiedener Autoren der Vater für die Geschlechtsidentität, die Beziehungsfähigkeit und das Selbstwertgefühl der Tochter hat.Der Theorieteil schließt mit Wünschen und Erwartungen an den 'idealen Vater' und leitet damit auf den empirischen Teil über.Dieser empirische Teil beinhaltet eine qualitative Untersuchung durch problemzentrierte, halbstrukturierte Leitfadeninterviews, unterstützt durch einen Kurzfragebogen und ein Postskriptum (nach Witzel und Friebertshäuser), die Frau Leeb mit Hilfe der Inhaltsanalyse nach Mayring auswertete.
