Context-awareness requires flexible context sensing and context interpretation mechanism that are used in smart service discovery and its subsequent delivery to the mobile user. The proposed research, CAPP, is a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) that enhances smart service discovery in a pervasive environment. Objective of CAPP is to deliver the best service available, among a pool of similar services, to the user. First Edition. 128 pp., French and Arabic text, edited & introduced by Charles Barbier de Meynard, publisher's original wrappers with small blemishes, blotchy, light wear to edges, copy otherwise clean and in good condition, unopened pages, Extrait Du Journal Asiatique (Octobre-Decembre 1875). Separately Reprinted from the Journal Asiatique, October-December in 1875. Richly annotated edition of the book The Gushing Thoughts or Nawabigh el-Kelim (Les Pensees Jaillissantes) by the Muslim scholar Abu al-Qasim Mahmud ibn Umar, also known as al-Zamakhshari. Abu al-Qasim Mahmud ibn Umar al-Zamakhshari became a renowned scholar of the Mutazilite school of Islam. He used Persian in some of his works, although he was a strong supporter of the Arabic language as well as an opponent of the Shu'ubiyya movement, even composing an entire grammatical work to refute it. He is best known for Al-Kashshaaf, a seminal commentary on the Qur'an. The commentary is famous for its deep linguistic analysis of the verses. He lived in Mecca for many years, and he became known as Jar-Allah ("God's neighbour"). He later returned to Khwarezm, where he died in 1144 in the capital Gorgan (in the present-day province of Gulestan, Iran). He studied in Bukhara and Samarkand while enjoying the fellowship of jurists of Baghdad. #32390.

Abu al-Qasim Mahmud ibn Umar al-Zamakhshari (1075-1144), known as al-Zamakhshari, also called Jar Allah (Arabic for "God's neighbour"), was a medieval Muslim scholar of Persian origin, who subscribed to the Mu?tazilite theological doctrine. He was born in Khwarezmia, but lived most of his life in Bukhara, Samarkand, and Baghdad. He was a great authority on the Arabic language as well as a rationalist theologian. This little publication drew Hammer into a serious scholarly dispute with the German Arabist Fleischer, who set out in his 1836 counter-translation Hammer's philological weaknesses. Aggiungi al carrelloSoft cover. Condizione: Very Good. First Edition. [18], 171 pp., [1], Latin and Arabic text translated & edited by Henricus Schultens, period paper wrappers, rubbed round edges, new spine strip, small library blind stamp at top of title page, occasional spotting, bookplate of De Guinzbourg verso front cover, contents quite clean being an untrimmed copy very much as-issued with wide margins, translated and edited by Henricus Schultens. The sources of Arab proverbs are numerous and old, some reaching far back into history. As early as 1107, for example, Abu al-Qasim Al-Zamakhshari completed a book of proverbs already old then. He called it Al-Mustaqsa fi Amthal al-Arab (The Sought After Arabic Proverbs), it was in two volumes and included 3461 proverbs, along with notes on their sources and their meanings. They can be compared with the "Durham Proverbs" which are thought to be the earliest known collection of Anglo-Saxon sayings and take up, according to the Oxford Dictionary of English Proverbs, a mere "three leaves . in the middle of an 11th century hymnal." Even earlier, a scholar named Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Maidani had published a book containing 4766 proverbs in an alphabetical order. It was called Majma' al-Amthal (A Collection of Proverbs), and according to a note in the author's introduction, the work was based on 50 other books containing proverbs. While other nations were still coining phrases, the Arabs were compiling them. The richest source of Arabic proverbs is, of course, the Qur'an. There are few verses (Ayah) that have not been used as proverbs and to this day they permeate conversation, literature, speeches and even legal decisions. This work is a considerable collection of maxims and Arabic proverbs compiled by Al-Zamakhshari and presented both in Arabic and Latin by Schultens (1749-1793), who was a professor of Hebrew and Arabic and taught in London, Amsterdam, and Leiden. Provenance: Bookplate of Victor De Guinzbourg to front pastedown. From the collection of Robert Easton. Bibliographic references: Duplessis 74, for 1773 edition; Sarton II, 271-272. #33729.

Aggiungi al carrelloThis first edition of a famous and very rare work on the Arabic language combines a collection of Arabic sentences, quotations and proverbs in Arabic script with a Latin translation. It was originally compiled by the medieval Persian theologian, grammarian and lexicographer Abu al-Qasim Al-Zamakhshari (1075-1144). The presen edition was translated by the renowned professor of oriental languages Hendrik Albert Schultens (1749-1793) at the University of Leiden. The work emulates the reading practices of the Arab world and is being read from right to left, but the preliminaries are in Latin with quotations in Arabic. The extensive notes, often longer than the main text, are given in Arabic only below the main text with the Latin notes with quotations in Arabic at the end of the work. With the circular stamp of the Archepiscopal Gymnasium in Lille (an ancestor of the 1875 Catholic University) on the second and third free flyleaves, pencil annotations in the margins of several leaves. Contemporary limp auburn calf. Manuscript containing the translation of Ibn Sina's "Qanunsah" ("Small Canon"), originally written in Persian: a brief medical compendium compiled by the Khwarazmian polymath Mahmud ibn Muhammad ibn Umar al-Jaghmini based on Ibn Sina's famous "Qanun". This abridged manual of medicine is arranged in ten parts ("maqalat", or "discourses"), each containing several chapters. The first maqala serves as a general introduction, dealing with the basic concepts of 14th century medical science and illustrating the various physical qualities (al-arkan) and body constitutions (al-amzigat), then focusing on the four Galenic humours (al-ahlat) - blood, phlegm, yellow and black bile - before discussing the parts of the body, the senses or faculties (al-quwá), and the preservation of one's natural temper (al-umur at-tabi iya). Further discourses treat anatomy, the various "conditions of the human body" ("ahwal badan al-insan"), the pulse, the "tafsira", or urine bottle given to the physician by the patient for inspection, the various aspects of the "wise management of diseases", "head diseases" and "diseases affecting the other body parts", chronic diseases of the various organs, evident defects (or "infirmities") in the external appearance of the body, fevers, and ultimately the importance of food and drink as remedies. Several diagrams show the human anatomy, including marginal illustrations of the the digestive system and of the human eye with its nerves and muscles, a full page annotated cross-section of the human body, and even the sketch of a horse. Some brownstaining near the beginning. The colophon, dated 12 Jumada al-Thani 1243 AH, states that this manuscript was copied by Mulla Najib Allah. - Provenance: private London collection; formerly acquired on the UK and international art market 1970s-2020.
