Brice Marden (illustratore). Signed by the late great Brice Marden, flat signed on the title page. Beautiful catalogue with high quality reproductions spanning the artists career. Overall a very decent copy. Binding is sturdy, if ever so slightly pulled at the top. Feels crisp and solid and should hold up for years to come. Interior is bright and clean, free of marks and mostly free of damage, except for bumping to the very tips of the corners of the pages throughout the book. This doesn't effect any of the text or imagery in the book itself, relegated entirely to this bottom right corner tip. Outside of the page block at that corner is visibly dirty / scuffed, again not effecting the interior. The boards are bumped in this exact same corner, otherwise being clean and firm. Dustjacket is excellent, with some creasing in that bottom right corner as well, but otherwise sharp and now in brodart.

Essays (in English and German) by Eva Keller, Robert Pincus-Witten, Harald Szeemann, Heiner Bastian, John Berger, Ruth Langenberg, Carol Mancusi-Ungaro, Yve-Alain Bois, Beat Wismer, Philip Fisher and Katharina Schmidt. Additional photographs by Robert Rauschenberg. Published on the occasion of an exhibition at Daros, Zürich. Fine. From the publisher: "One of the most important painters of today, Cy Twombly's epic yet intimate combinations of gestural abstraction, drawing, and writing have been moving viewers since the mid-1950s. This book presents a diverse array of short essays by leading art critics as they explore the many aspects of Twombly's work. Heiner Bastian considers the relation of Mallarmé's poetry to Twombly's visual language. John Berger meditates on language and words as they appear on the artist's canvases. Yve-Alain Bois muses on the scatological impulse. Philip Fisher dissects Twombly's zany neo-classicist storytelling. Robert Pincus-Witten tells us a few things about Twombly's relationship to Italy and the United States. And Harald Szeemann wonders about Twombly's very own brand of history painting. A rich and stimulating collection of writings, complemented by lavish plates showing many early works, Cy Twombly, produced in collaboration with the Daros Collection, is indispensable for anyone interested in deepening their understanding of the artist's work.".
