This is an original piece made of wood & metal in shape of a spoon by the artist/sculptor Ursula von Rydingsvard (1942-); Limited Edition to approx. 25; each of the pieces are unique because the handles are hand carved; it is not signed -as issued; it is 21-1/2in long; top handle is hand carved wood (approx. 6in x 2-1/2in. thick) with metal spoon bottom (16 in long with spoon span 5-1/2in wide); her sculpture is in numerous Permanent Collections including: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Museum of Modern Art, New York; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Brooklyn Museum, New York; Walker Arts Center, Minneapolis; Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City; High Museum of Art, Atlanta, and Detroit Institute of Arts; OF INTEREST: she also made forks about the same size as the spoon and originally gave them away to friends as gifts but this one's; PROVENANCE is: purchased directly from EXIT ART, when in Soho, N.Y. City in 1992 (not sure when it was made so I'm saying made when I purchased in 1992); it has never been used except for display on a wall; the spoons' inside appears to have some black tarnish lines, otherwise in EXCELLENT COND.
