Inspiré par Jean-François Raffaëlli, il commence sa carrière artistique peu avant la Première Guerre mondiale, en exposant au Salon des indépendants de 1912 des aquarelles remarquées par le marchand d'art Durant-Ruel. Vorsätze (OUmschlag beigebunden; leicht fleckig, beschabt und bestoßen). Carteret V, 103. Monod 5927.- "Le Livre d'art, vol. 4".- Nummer 28 von 80 (gesamt 252) numerierten und monogrammierten Exemplaren "sur Japon impérial" mit separater Folge der Radierungen (mit Randeinfällen) und Holzstiche.- Eugène-Louis Véder (oder Eugène Véder, 1876 - 1936) war Maler, Aquarellist und Grafiker. "Ne lui demandez pas d'où il vient, ni où il a appris à regarder, à crayonner et à sentir. Son uvre l'indique assez clairement, les petits marchés en plein air, les étals de la rue St-Jacques, les pentes de l'herbe rare des fortifs, les coins perdus du vieux Montmartre, tels furent ses premiers champs d'observation, ses premiers ateliers de peintre. Préservé de toute influence d'école, il n'a eu d'autre maître que Paris, d'autre enseignement que le spectacle quotidien de nos rues et de nos faubourgs, d'autres modèles que les passants. Et voilà sans doute le secret d'un talent si original, d'une uvre où le moindre détail prend un accent de vérité" (Jean Robiquet).- Vorsätze etwas braunfleckig, sonst ein schönes, nur vereinzelt leicht fingerfleckiges Exemplar in einem Einband von Yseux Sr. de Thierry-Simier (Signatur auf dem vord. fliegenden Vorsatz).
