Abrek Zaur is a Soviet-Russian version of the Robin Hood, set in the late nineteenth century. Zaur, the mountaineer kills a Russian officer, an "imperialist" and the authorities burn his house and arrest his father and wife but can not catch him. He becomes and outcast, an "abrek" and joins to an anti-Russian gang in the Caucasus. He never steals from the poor people only from the "imperialists" and always outwits the Russians. .
