Black-and-white engraved illustration. Light rubbing to the cloth extremities. Single unobtrusive ownership stamp to the ffep, otherwise, contents remain without blemish and firm, sound binding; very good+. Bears the original price of 38 kopecks ("kopeyki"), embossed to the upper-left margin of the rear board. Rare to be offered in trade. A lovely, and faithful facsimile of the uncensored first edition of Kobzar published in 1840 by E. Fisher, from the only known surviving copy of the first issue held at the National Library of Russia in St. Petersburg. Followed by a brief epilogue, penned by V.
