Soft cover. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. 1st Edition. Condition: Near Fine / Very Good+. First Edition. Signed. 2008. Signed by the author. First Edition (2008). Covers are as new, exceptionally clean with no wear, and the binding and spine remain tight, square, and structurally flawless. Dust jacket is Very Good+, showing a ¾‑inch closed tear at the lower right front panel and light foxing on the interior panels, yet still bright, presentable, and fully intact. Complete with the original matching "Songs of the Veld" bookmark, a scarce and desirable inclusion. A finely crafted collection of lyrical, reflective poetry by Marthinus van Bart, blending the stark beauty of the African landscape with the tonal traditions of English verse. The poems engage directly with the cultural memory of the Anglo Boer War, offering meditations on conflict, identity, and the emotional terrain of South African history. Van Bart's bilingual framing English poems on the Anglo Boer War situates the work within a unique literary intersection of Africana heritage and English poetic form. This copy is signed by the author, providing a personal association that enhances its desirability among collectors of Africana literature, Anglo Boer War material, and South African historical poetry. As a First Edition (2008) from Cederberg Publishers, it represents the earliest and most sought after issue of the work. Surely valued by collectors of regional African writing, readers interested in cultural or bilingual (African/English) poetry, and those who value signed mid century literary works.
