Menno moved to Indonesia in 1910, where he lived for twelve years. This period greatly inspired his his art, focusing on landscapes and culture. He returned to the Netherlands in 1922 and settled in Rijswijk. He showcased realistic scenes resonating with both locals and Westerners. Menno is well known for his oil paintings that depicted life in the Indies and captured the essence of the culture.
