He also helped to found the opera troupe "The Bostonians" and was active in the Boston Ideal Opera Company. Barnabee was a member of Columbian Lodge in Boston, joining in 1865. He joined St. Andrew's Royal Arch Chapter in June of 1868, and DeMolay Commandery a few months later. His papers are held by the Portsmouth Public Library in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Also with a signed presentation from actress Julia Dean on the front pastedown, to American stage and film actor Frank Craven: "To my dear Frank from Julia Dean" and inscribed by her again on the first page of the text: "Julia Dean- To Frank Craven." Dean [1878-1952] was a stage and film actress who began her career in the 1890s and ended up making silent pictures from 1915 to 1919. She then devoted her career to the stage until 1944 when she appeared in "The Curse of the Cat People" and later in noir classics like "Nightmare Alley." Craven is probably best remembered for originating the role of the Stage Manager in Thornton Wilder's "Our Town."
