Signed by the author (Turnbull) to first title page, reverse side. Binding little shaky. Crinkling and cracking to pages at gutters. Previous owner's inscription to first title page. Pages are moderately tanned throughout. Occasional foxing. Light thumb marking present. Both endpapers are missing with hinges cracked and netting exposed. Boards have mild edge wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. There is bumping to corners and crushing to spine ends. Tanning to spine and edges. Gilt lettering is darkened and faded. Splits to spine head. Book has a slight forward lean. Spotty marks to boards.

Edges with wear, cloth wear, denting, bumping to bottom edges of boards. Misshapen spine with wear, scuffing, edge wear and cloth wear to extremities/joints. Corners with wear, bowing. Top rear corner with fray. Very relaxed binding but still intact. Split hinge. Soil to pastedowns and endpapers, circular stain to front pastedown and front endpaper. Previous owner's inscription to front endpaper verso. Tanning throughout, stray soil here and there. Reading bend to some page corners. Age, soil, wear, scuffing to text block edges.
