Number 6 of only 170 medals struck at the U.S. Mint for Ambrose Swasey of the Rowfant Club (number "6" struck on side of medal, housed in ORIGINAL BOX also with "6" on top and side of the cardboard box). The Hay medal designed and excuted by Victor David Brenner, best known as the designer of the Lincoln penny, is a scarce item of Rowfantia. Medal is clean with a strong patina.

America's first series of collector's medals, they were commissioned by the Circle of Friends of the medallion from leading medalists of the time, with themes commemmorating significant events, places, or people, and struck by the Medallic Art Company of New York. All 12 medals are as issued in the holders in the booklets, with some occasional age-toning as expected, see photos for representative examples, and contact us for further details. The numbered booklets are VG or better, occasional bumping to spines and/or corners, the cover gilt medallions are bright, and the pages browned.
