"This volume gathers a series of artists that have been extremely important in the innovative process of the Galician sculpture that was previous to the Civil War in 1936, a process that is parallel to the avant-garde rebirth of the Os Novos generation in painting - our particular 1927 generation, which contrasts with the previous modernism - whose protagonists offer a moderate view from stylistic positions based on a tradition that rebels against the costumbrist topic and admits the interference of certain realities of the contemporary isms, mainly of the Expressionism and the figurative reviews of the Cubism." The following thirteen artists are included in this voluminous tome: Asorey, Xose Eiroa, Cristino Mallo, Antonio Failde, Camilo Nogueira, Uxio Souto, Bonome, Narciso Perez, Compostela, Acuna, Madariaga, Arturo Baltar, & A. Vilar Lamelas. Numerous fine full-colour and b&w illustrations throughout. Photogravure and photocomposition by Sixpress Color. Introduction by Anton Castro. Several contributors (including Ramon Otero Tunez, Xose M. Lopez Vazquez, Pilar Corredoira, M. Victoria Carballo Calero, Beatriz de San Ildefonso, Fernando Martinez Vilanova, etc). Text in English.
