Su comité de dirección reunió a figuras como Claude Lanzmann, Michel Leiris y Jean Paulhan; en 1981, tras la muerte de Sartre (abril de 1980), la dirección efectiva recaía en Simone de Beauvoir. Este número especial doble fue coordinado por el crítico David Viñas y el escritor César Fernández Moreno, a pedido de Claude Lanzmann. Publicado en plena vigencia del Proceso de Reorganización Nacional (19761983), constituyó la intervención más significativa realizada desde el extranjero en relación con la Argentina bajo la dictadura militar. Los materiales abordan el peronismo histórico, el militarismo de la junta, la cultura bajo censura y la experiencia del exilio.
