"This presentation is offered not as proof that life exists on Mars, but only to examine some of the unexplained evidence of unusual formations recorded by orbiting satellite cameras on the Mariner and Viking Missions which are found to be highly provocative. One such land feature has become one of the most controversial subjects discussed for over a decade. Within theses pages are presented the images of a feature in the Cydonia region of Mars which resembles a human face. The face image was originally dismissed when it could not be found in a later scene. This was likely due to improper filing because our research found that second frame. The object is under continued observation and two trains of thought prevail: 1. It is a natural formation caused by weather and geological mechanisms present on Mars. 2. It is an unnatural formation caused by the mechanisms of unknown origin but provocative enough to warrant further investigation. We hope these pictures and data will re-kindle interest in exploration of the Universe. Mars is the only other planet within our solar system that holds a potential for man to terraform and colonize. Our human society should establish an extra-terrestrial seed while we still exist. If no major government will fund the necessary precursor missions, then the skills and materials should be gathered from the private sector. We attended all of "The Case for Mars" conferences, two at the University of Boulder, Colorado, in April and May of 1981, and in July of 1984, and in Washington, D.C. in July of 1986.
