Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. Vittore Carpaccio (illustratore). This is "Vittore Carpaccio", a book about Italian Renaissance Artist of the Venetian School, Student of Bellini, creator of the 'Dream of St. Ursula'. It's a paperback format book with color pictures published in 1996 by Pockets Electa in Milan, Italy. Original Italian text by Stefano Zuffi. English translation by Huw Evans. The book is Out of Print - OP. Vittorio Carpaccio (1465 - c. 1526) was an Italian Renaissance Artist of the Venetian School who studied under Bellini. He was one f the foremost orientalist painters of his generation. With masterly use of color and light, and with a tinge of humanist humor, his paintings are, at least to my 21st century eyes, revelatory. There is a story in every painting . and every painting reveals more upon repeated viewings. The book, issued in paperback format , has a few monochrome illustrations of Carpaccio's drawings, but the bulk of the book is taken up with beautiful, lush reproductions (in miniature, of course) of Carpaccio's major works, including the series devoted to St. Ursula. His depictions of Italian landscapes and city scenes are wonderful. Published by Pockets Electa in Milan Italy, in 1996. Text is by Stefano Zuffi ; English translation by Huw Evans . TITLE : Carpaccio AUTHOR : Stefano Zuffi ENGLISH TRANSLATION : Huw Evans IMPRINT ; Pockets Electa PLACE : Milan, Italy DATE : (1996) SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES : Color Illustrations. CONDITION -- VERY GOOD -- This is a previously owned book that remains clean and attractive, with the following particulars noted: EXTERIOR -- Soft bumps to fore-edge corner tips; a small nick displays on the front spine fold (joint); the spine is not creased; cover surfaces display modest rub - the front displays brightly. The text-block edges are clean. BINDING -- The book has obviously been read and thus the text-block is not as tight as when issued, however it remains solid with no detached or loose leaves. INTERIOR -- Clean and free of marking throughout.
Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Tour the city of Venice through the panoramic paintings of one of its most celebrated chroniclersThe lagoon city of Venice was home to some of the greatest painters of the Italian Renaissance. Among them was Vittore Carpaccio (c. 14651525), whose body of work largely remains to this day in the city in which he lived and died. Influenced by Early Netherlandish art and resistant to Humanist trends, Carpaccio is today known for having developed a style that set him apart from his peers. He worked primarily under the patronage of various scuole, or confraternities, to illustrate Christian anecdotes. Replete with illustrative detail and an earthy color palette, Carpaccios paintings are uniquely emotive in their depictions of saintly miracles. This new publication invites readers from around the world to tour Venice through Carpaccios masterpieces and discover the artist who was exceptionally adept at fusing the real Venice and the myth of Venice into a single vision. Carpaccio in Venice: A Guide presents all of the artists works conserved in the city, providing updated scholarship for both the paintings and their original locations in light of recent restoration efforts. Sites include the Scuola di San Giorgio degli Schiavoni, the Doges Palace, the Museo Correr, the Gallerie dellAccademia, along with many other locations. Tour the city of Venice through the panoramic paintings of one of its most celebrated chroniclers Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.
