This statement of Bagby's underpins the necessity for literary scholars to pay special analytical attention to the comedic elements in Valdez's dramas. Indeed, it is the relationship between the playwright and his audience of Chicano workers that especially takes its effectiveness from the techniques and elements of comedy, especially satire.Many critics underline Valdez's importance both because he denounces the discrimination and exploitation of Chicanos in the United States and his direct address to oppressed Mexican-Americans, e.g., striking campesinos. The communication to his fellow-countrymen has always been essential for Valdez as a political writer. It has been this successful and mass-mobilising (for example in the 1965 Delano Grape Strike) as his actos (short plays dramatizing the oppression of the fieldworkers) are based on comedic and satiric elements. These techniques have been used since archaic or Plato's times by critical authors to mobilise the hearts and minds of human beings against a political system or to remedy an abuse. The thesis that Valdez's play Los Vendidos consists of various comedic patterns to enable a thrilling, entertaining and effective communication between the author and his Chicano audience to sustainably deliver Valdez's political messages can be seen when analyzing his probably most famous acto and the types of comedy he uses. Los Vendidos can be assigned to classifications like low, realistic or satiric comedy. This, indeed, shows how strongly Valdez relies on comedic-satiric techniques to politically communicate with and mobilise his Chicano fellow countrymen. …

He himself called his literary works biographic and according to many critics, 'The Snows of Kilimanjaro' can be seen as his most autobiographical one where he deals with issues having concerned him during all of his life. Not only his relationship to women but also topics like war, death, love, sex, nihilism, existentialism, travelling, hunting, wilderness and his fear of losing his talent are some of the themes Hemingway coped with during his adventurous and colourful life - and they also play an important role in his African short story. This term paper firstly examines the main themes in 'The Snows of Kilimanjaro'. Three themes will be considered, each theme followed by possible interpretations. The second part will then concentrate on symbols in the text and their possible meanings. However, the main focus of the term paper will be on the autobiographical elements in the story: It will bring out parallels between Hemingway's real life and elements in 'The Snows of Kilimanjaro'. Thus, situations or traits of characters in the novel will be compared to similar experiences Hemingway made during his adventurous life. The examination of all these similarities between the life of 'Papa' and the text will then be the basis for a short conclusion. The author doesn't only try to link or reconcile the two parts but he as a migrant between the two worlds ironically plays with the traditional images of Orient and Occident: By applying a huge variety of genre, styles, structures and techniques he finally deconstructs the traditional notions of the two entities. In doing so he undermines the reader's conventional assumptions about the East and West and makes clear that in recent times reality cannot be pressed into or described by such simple schemes any longer. When Rushdie writes that 'literature is, of all the arts, the one best suited to challenging absolutes of all kinds', this is exactly what he does in 'East, West'. Nothing is 'sacred' any longer, and thus most of the stories can be considered as attempts to ironically challenge and deconstruct sanctities and weak sides of Eastern and Western culture. By this critique he makes clear that within the global village these two parts of the world are closely interrelated and cannot be considered as opposing entities. Thus, Rushdie goes beyond the common debates about whether there is a divide of the world into East and West or not.However, as the short stories in East, West fulfil all more or less this deconstructive design on the one side and represent on the other side the richness and diversity of human life in the different parts of the world they naturally do not offer easy interpretations. Nevertheless, this paper tries to examine how Rushdie criticizes and deconstructs the traditional notions and absolutes of the East and West and how he takes apart these artificial entities. The thesis that Salman Rushdie deconstructs the typical images and questions the inviolable both of the Orient and Occident and thus describes the world as a complex, interrelated system will be the paper's central question. In this respect one 'Eastern' story of his short story cycle East, West - 'The Prophet's Hair' - and one 'Western story' - 'At the Auction of the Ruby Slippers'- will be considered. Dennoch gehört dieser Lebensraum zu den Waldflächen der Erde, die am stärksten der anthropogene Zerstörung zum Opfer fallen.Die Abholzung und Degradierung tropischer Regenwälder wird sich in den nächsten Jahrzehnten kaum abschwächen. Folglich ist die Menschheit zunehmend aufgefordert, Maßstäbe und Kriterien zu entwickeln, die bei der Entscheidung helfen, welche Regenwaldformationen schon aus eigenem Interesse der Menschheit heraus unbedingt für die Zukunft erhalten werden müssen und welche man auf Grund der vielfältigen (kurzfristigen) Nutzungsansprüche der stetig anwachsenden Bevölkerungen vielleicht eher der Veränderung preisgibt. Die in den Geo- und Biowissenschaften noch umstrittene Frage, ob tropische Bergregenwälder oder tropische Tieflandregenwälder schutzwürdiger sind, steht somit im Zentrum dieser Arbeit - eine Frage, die angesichts des immensen jährlichen Verlustes an tropischen Wäldern immer dringender zu beantworten ist. Neben einem Blick auf die Konzepte Tieflandregenwald, Bergregenwald und Schutzwürdigkeit untersucht die Arbeit, ob Biodiversität als Kriterium zur Beurteilung letzterer dienen kann. Im zentralen Teil der Arbeit werden Ökologie und Artenvielfalt der beiden Lebensräume theoretisch und empirisch dargestellt und miteinander verglichen. Unternehmen sind in komplexeren Umfeldern gezwungen, auf die neuen Herausforderungen sowohl in ihren Strategieprozessen als auch in ihren Organisationsstrukturen dynamisch zu reagieren und klassische strategische Dilemmata etwa zwischen den Koordinationsformen Markt und Hierarchie oder den Wettbewerbsstrukturen Konkurrenz und Kooperation in hybrider Art zu vereinen. In diesem Sinne wurde in den letzten 25 Jahren in der empirischen Wirklichkeit des postfordistischen Wirtschaftssystems vor allem das Netzwerkprinzip sowohl unternehmensintern als auch in den interorganisationalen Beziehungen zunehmend dominant. Dennoch bleiben viele Dynamiken ökonomischer Kooperation bzw. Netzwerkbildungen nach wie vor fragmentarisch erforscht bzw. theoretisch vage beschrieben. Die spieltheoretische Betrachtung der Netzwerkformierung kann hierbei den Zugang der Wirtschaftswissenschaften zu den angesprochenen Fragestellungen ontologisch und epistemologisch erweitern und ist deshalb Hauptgegenstand der vorliegenden Arbeit. Die Erklärung intra- und interorganisationaler Netzwerkbildungen aus spieltheoretischen Ansätzen heraus könnte somit neue, grundlegende Einsichten in die heute globalisierten 'Wirtschaftsspiele' innerhalb des Paradigmas von 'make, buy or ally' erbringen.
