Dialogues between an Admiral and a Captain on how to maintain a ship and engage it in fighting, duties of officers, the administration of victuals, information on payroll, pillaging and the appropriate use of weapons.Sections on "Boarding;" "Being Boarded;" "Chasing;" "Fighting;" etc. Contains an interesting section on seafaring terms. An interesting piece of ephemera is laid in: A "Night Rounds Report" from the HMS Chrysanthemum date 1930. Before being scuttled, the Chrysanthemum was used in a Steven Spielberg shooting for one of the Indiana Jones movies. A handsome copy. Blue cloth spine with white buckram-covered boards, gilt device to cover, gilt lettering to spine. Facsimile page from 1685 edition. (illustratore).
