Text block edges and interior leaves toned with light moisture staining, shallow chipping, and tears at page margins (particularly at fore-edges). Numerous quires and leaves pulled with some detached - collation has not been verified. Dark brown endpapers with old pencil inscription "A.M. Reese" on front pastedown. Book retained for presence of unusual Reconstruction-era Mobile, Alabama bookseller ticket on front pastedown - triangular shaped light pink ticket with black border and lettering for "Putnam & Co. | Booksellers | Mobile, Ala. | 52 Dauphin St." Book was acquired from the estate book collection of the Japonica Path mansion in Greensboro, Alabama.
