G. Andre of Philadelphia was a publisher but they were also a music shop (meaning they sold works by other publishers). There are three stamps on the front cover, one is barely visible, one is an older address (19 S. Fifth St., but G. Andre existed at this location before the opera premiered), the stamp overlapping it is difficult to make out but it appears to be the address 1104 Chestnut St., thus our estimated date range (Dichter & Shapiro *Handbook of Early American Sheet Music: 1768-1889*).…
