Edge wear, chipping and closed tears to top and bottom of jacket and spine, some overall dust and time staining to largely white jacket with woodcut illustration of a cobra, corners rubbed with small loss, small 'Books from India' sticker on inside back flap, text printed on pinkish paper, not price clipped (no published price), no inscriptions, internally clean tight and square, overall a vg++ copy for its age. 171pp. Alfred John Wall (1847-98), was appointed Resident Medical Officer at Bhangulpore (Bengal) in 1874. In 1875 he was offered a seat on the Snake Poison Commission, entering as its youngest member. In 1883 he first published his work on snake poisons which won him a wide reputation.
