Neuware -Remembered as a pioneering and prolific Abstract Expressionist artist of otherworldly sculptures, Ibram Lassaw (1913-2003) is less known for his wearable sculptures. Like his large-scale works, the 'Bosom Sculptures,' with their innovative use of alloys, were inspired by Lassaw's readings on such varied topics as Zen Buddhism, cosmology, and quantum physics. Lassaw's welded and braised necklaces, though simple in design, remind us of everything from sea anemones to nebulae, with their elaborate biomorphic tendrils and interconnected clusters. Published to coincide with an exhibition at Figge Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa, Quanta of Space: The Bosom Sculpture of Ibram Lassaw features 37 unique pendants and necklaces alongside nine full-sized sculptures that Lassaw created between 1938 and 1996. Supplemental essays by Nancy G. Heller, professor emerita at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia; Denise Lassaw, the artist's daughter, collaborator, and archivist; and Marin R. Sullivan, scholar of art history and curator, offer insight into his life and times and illustrate Lassaw's contribution to Modernist studio jewelry.; Ibram Lassaw (1913-2003) gilt als bahnbrechender Vertreter des Abstrakten Expressionismus in Amerika und ist berühmt für filigrane Metallskulpturen, die den Tiefen des Ozeans oder fernen Galaxien entsprungen sein könnten. 116 pp. Englisch.

Fotografia
No Binding. Condizione: Fine. HARDING, WARREN G. (1865-1923). Twenty-ninth President of the United States (1921-1923); died in office, resulting in Calvin Coolidge becoming the 30th President. An impressive photograph depicting President Warren G, Harding s first cabinet meeting in March of 1921. Boldly signed by him and eleven of his cabinet members, two of which were to become future Presidents, and one who was to become the Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court. The men are depicted sitting around a conference table in the White House, and each has signed beneath his image. The photograph measures 11 x 14 inches, and is affixed on the photographer s mount to an overall size of 13 x 16 inches. Image by Edmonston with their signature, and copyright. Neatly matted, and in a cherry wood frame to an overall size of 23 x 26 inches. The signatories are: Warren G. Harding, President; Calvin Coolidge, Vice President; Charles Evans Hughes, Secretary State; Andrew Mellon, Secretary of the Treasury; John W. Weeks, Secretary of War; Harry M. Daughery, Attorney General; Will H. Hays, Postmaster General; Edwin Denby, Secretary of the Navy; Albert B. Fall, Secretary of the Interior; Henry Cantwell Wallace, Secretary of Agriculture; Herbert Hoover, Secretary of Commerce; James J. Davis, Secretary of Labor. Just a magnificent photograph, signed by a total of 3 Presidents, and a future Supreme Court Justice, [and not forgetting those several members who were also implicated in the ''Tea Pot Dome'' scandal!]. Excellent condition. [Please note: the image is in very fine condition. The ghosts or shadings visible in the on line photos are due to being photographed through the glass frame.] A fine image worthy of inclusion in any collection of Presidents or of important photography.
